Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday – it was lovely to have all our students back with us on Tuesday and we are all looking forward to the second half of the school year.

A big welcome to Miss Olivia Sugg, who has joined us as the Education Assistant in the Year 1/2 classroom.

Little Stars Playgroup

On Monday mornings between 9 and 11am, Ms Esther Kerr will be running the Little Stars Playgroup in the Library and Early Years playground. This playgroup is open to all families from Kojonup and the surrounding districts – everyone welcome! Parents and carers can have a coffee and chat while the children sing, dance, listen to stories and complete simple activities. Tea, coffee, morning tea and fruit will be provided and there is no charge to attend. Please spread the word around your family and friends and come along if you have children aged 0-5 years old. Our first coffee and playgroup morning is Monday 5th August – we’d love to see you there!

Fr Francis

Yesterday we farewelled Fr Francis, who is leaving us and moving to Dunsborough to the Parish of Our Lady of the Cape. School Captain Marietta Diallo and MJR Ministry leader Elizabeth Mathwin presented Fr Francis with a gift and cards from the students and staff. We will miss Fr Francis around our school but look forward to welcoming Fr Gerome Dalipe who is coming to us from St Joseph’s parish, Busselton.

Treehouse Fort and Swing

There is some very exciting activity underway in our Nature Playground at the moment, with the construction of our new treehouse fort and bush swing. Both of these wonderful new play structures have been provided by our amazing Parents & Friends group and the St Bernard’s School Board. Our students are going to have a great time playing on these new pieces of equipment and we send our very sincere thanks to both our school parent groups. The P&F has also completed purchasing ‘wish list’ items for each of our classrooms, providing those extra bits and pieces that make a big difference to student learning and engagement. A reminder that the next P&F meeting is on Wednesday 7th August at 9am in the school staffroom and you are very welcome to attend

Newsletter Survey

Finally, our newsletter survey has been extended until Monday, and I encourage you to go online and complete the survey, if you haven’t yet done so. The survey gives everyone the opportunity to give us some feedback about the newsletter – frequency, format, content and publication. Just click on the link below and let us know what you think.
